Since 2007, Joseph Hahs has owned and operated the general contracting and property management firm Cork, LLC, located in St. Paul, MN. Joseph Hahs spends his downtime helping others and regularly contributes to several nonprofit organizations, including the ALS Association and its Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota chapter, which hosts a Race for the Cure event.
Founded in 1985, the ALS Association serves as the only nationwide nonprofit organization aimed at fighting Lou Gehrig’s disease. It spearheads global research initiatives, offers assistance to those with ALS, and establishes governmental partnerships. Its national chapters also promote advocacy efforts through compassionate care and support platforms.
In addition to hosting a Race for the Cure event, the MN/ND/SD ALS Association organizes the annual Black Woods Blizzard Tour. The 2016 event, which is the organization’s 17th Black Woods Blizzard Tour, occurs on February 3-6. Experienced snowmobilers begin in Proctor, MN, move on to Lake Vermillion, and then loop back to Proctor. Speeds average 40 mph during the ride, and riders average around 150 miles during the first two days. To participate, riders must raise at least $1,500. However, the organization provides fuel, lodging, and food during the event.
